Fashion Conundrum

Alright blogosphere, twitterverse, all you fashionable people of the interweb, I need your help.

I inherited this custom-made skirt:

I love it. It fits perfectly, is an appropriate length for work. It's just all around cute.

However...

The waist band is cream, not white.

Blouse - Smart Set; Skirt - inherited; Shoes - Aldo

This has COMPLETELY thrown me off. It doesn't work with a white shirt, and I've tried a black blouse but I don't love that either. I've tried multiple times, but I have yet to wear this skirt out of house.

So blogosphere, twitterverse, fashionable people of the interweb, I ask you..

how would you style this skirt?

  1. I would wear it with a soft colour, like a lilac or light pink.. nothing too bold because the skirt is bold but not neutral either. The colour will make the skirt pop more. :)

  2. My thoughts are the opposite of kylas, I think it would look fabulous with a bright colored top. Another way to help solve the problem of the waistband would be to cover it with a wide belt.

  3. I'm on the same wave length as Natasha... until you find that perfect cream top that matches the skirt... a coloured top would work. The belt would also be a good solution to break the cream/white contrast... in the winter this would work if you added a blazer or cardigan of colour.

  4. Ditto, a bright color or medium light color will work great. Skip black, white or cream. Using a belt to cover the waist band is a brilliant idea! You could also ask a tailor to replace the waistband with a new fabric - white or black.

Hope you post another pic, would love to see what you decide to do! Good Luck!
