Squandered Hour

Sweater - Old Navy; Skirt - Jacob; Tights - H&M; Shoes - Aldo

Two weeks before the clocks actually rolled back, I started to get excited. I was already anticipating how glorious that extra hour of sleep would be.

And, it completely lived up to expectations.

When I woke up on Sunday I was in a great mood. Not only had I slept-in by normal standards, I'd gained an hour; this day was mine for the taking. Although I had grand plans to clean and get my life back on track (aka: do laundry, or as I'm referring to it, tackle Mt. Laund-verest), I instead spent the day brunching, grocery shopping, reading and lounging (my favourite of all -ing words).

I even went to bed early, in hopes of kicking off the upcoming week with the same upbeat temperament I'd had earlier in the day. Monday was going to have nothin' on me!

And this is where I lost that glorious hour I'd gained not that long ago. I'd started reading the Bronze Horseman earlier in the day and it's a book I can't seem to put down.

And I didn't...

...until well into the next morning. Which is why I wore a remixed version of an ensemble from a couple of weeks ago (seen here) to work yesterday. I wasn't feeling very creative, and I figured a pop of red and some polka dots would distract away from the undereye baggage I was carrying after getting only six-and-a-half hours of sleep.

So much for gaining an hour!

But, then again, is it really losing an hour when it's spent reading!? This bookworm says, "Never!"

How did you spend your extra hour?

  1. Great picot - it reminds me of the J Crew lookbook. Great colour (skirt) & print (top)!

  2. Loving your outfit here! The polka-dots are so fun and the red skirt rocks!
I spent my hour complaining that I didn't get to sleep in an extra hour. How's THAT for being "worth it"... ? =P

  3. I love having a day with an extra hour too! Although I totally slept through it ;)

I adore this outfit, the skirt and top combo is perfection!

Hope you have a great week, although the time change also means a much earlier sunset. It also means Christmas is coming!

  4. As much as I appreciated the extra hour, I despise how early it's getting dark now! Love the red and polka dots, classic combo! I've been reading "Shoemaker's Wife" which is really good but I never seem to find time to read it.

  6. The same thing has happened to me so many times before... sit down in bed and think, I'll just read a little bit. Next thing I know, it's two in the morning! I love how your remixed this outfit, though; the polkadot sweater is just perfect!
